Highgrove Gardens and The King’s Foundation are pleased to announce a new collaboration with British perfume house Penhaligon's to bring you the Highgrove Bouquet Eau De Parfum. Inspired by and created with His Majesty King Charles III, this new scent pays homage to the magnificent fragrance of Highgrove Gardens in summer.
The odour of blossoming Tilia 'Petiolaris' (weeping silver lime) fills the air during the summer months, and the gardens at Highgrove are full of its branches, with their blooming, uplifting, floral notes.
With vibrant lavender and geranium, the uplifting fragrance begins with a crisp, confident burst of warm energy. As floral, powdery notes emerge, a shroud of delicate yellow blossoms appears to fill the air, and tuberose brings longevity and depth to the mimosa, a solar storm of delight. The relaxing, soothing base combines elegance and sophistication with cedar wood and orris.
His Majesty The King has been an active and passionate advocate for sustainability for over 50 years. This collaboration between Penhaligon's, Highgrove Gardens, and The King's Foundation was created with the need to respect the planet.
In keeping with His Majesty's environmental vision, Penhaligon's has replaced plastic packaging with 100% recycled and recyclable paper and sugar cane eco foam, whilst organic ink free of mineral oils has been used for printing.
On both sides of the front drive, leading up to the house at Highgrove Gardens, sits a row of Tilia ‘Petiolaris’ (weeping silver lime) trees, planted approximately 10 metres apart. They are known to have clusters of highly scented, striking yellowish flowers that are narcotic for bees.
It was here that the scent was first captured for the elegant Highgrove Bouquet Eau De Parfum. It included conducting analysis and gathering information about the beautifully fragrant flowers and sampling the air around the flower by capturing the aroma chemicals.
Established in London in 1870 by William Penhaligon, a barber from Cornwall, the esteemed fragrance house holds two Royal Warrants and supplies electrifying scents to all types of perfume lovers.
William opened his first boutique in The Burlington Arcade in Piccadilly, London, and created his first fragrance, Hammam Bouquet, in 1872. He got his inspiration for the scent from the Turkish baths where he was a resident barber.
Queen Alexandra granted Penhaligon's first Royal Warrant in 1903, shortly after William Penhaligon's death. They later received a second Royal Warrant from HRH The Duke of Edinburgh in 1956 and a third Royal Warrant from the then HRH The Prince of Wales in 1988.
Highgrove Bouquet is a new scent inspired by and created with His Majesty The King and is a tribute to the magnificently fragrant summers at Highgrove Gardens.
With top notes of geranium, lavender, and hyacinth, middle notes of weeping lime headspace, French mimosa, and tuberose, and base notes of cedar wood, orris fusion, and musk, it is a fragrance as natural as it is elegant and warm.
